Default Traction Mods-What Really Works? What's the Best?

Hey guys. First off, yes I've searched. But there really wasn't a thread that explained what I want to know. There's lot's of stuff out there, from shocks to bushings, to control arms, sub-frame connectors, etc. But from strictly a drag racing perspective, what really works best for great 60's? I'm stock now, going to the track for the first time tomorrow. This car will see the track on a fairly consistant basis. Rather than throw a ton of power at it and then be frustrated with traction issues, I'd like to start with some traction mods. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I think subframes need to be put on any f-body first....then DRs, torq arm and control arms. After that you can look into shocks, struts, springs and the list goes on.

Tubular LCA's did the trick for me but remember that every car is different. Stick with the list's above and you will be good to go.

Keep in mind that the relocation brackets may require an adjustable torque arm. The guy that does my installs couldn't get the pinion angle right, so I need an adjustable torque arm before I can install the relocation brackets.

I would think for straight up traction - Not sure on what car this applies too.. The big basic's are -

1) Limited slip differential combined with soft rubber wide rear tires..
2) Coilover suspension to get the ultimate dampening effect.. Illiminates wheel hop too..
3) Lowering the car in the rear a bit with the coilover suspension adjustment can enable proper weight transfer at launch as well ..

Road handling is a different story..

Thanks for all of the help! I'll see how the car does tonight. I've got street tires that I'll make a couple passes on, and then some Gforce TA drag radials for the remainder of the night. You guys have been a big help, now for the challenging part to convince the wife that the car needs mods.

where are you located? we have track night on tuesday nights around here too... i've seen consistent 1.5's to 1.6's 60' times with just SFC's, DR's, and a comp 50/50 rear shock setup... The A4 is gonna hook up pretty good anyway... And less stressful on the 10 bolt... Quite a few guys around here are running that combo with great results... You don't have to spend big bucks to get a car to hook, just trial and error...

I'm in St Louis. Can a stock car get a 1.8 or better?

Tonight will be my first night using them, so we'll see. Either way, it should do better than a couple of the FWD cars I've raced at the track.

i would think it would be hard to get 1.8's with a stock car... If it dead hooks I would think it would bog... I would think 2.0's on a stock car with DR's would be about average...
