Default ignition jamming!! hard to turn key...any ideas?

well like a week ago ive been noticing that i've been having to wiggle my key every now and then so i can turn the key...
then now i have to put lot of pressure sometimes. feels like its the wrong key does not budge but one it does everything is fine
it used to happen once every few times, but now happens more frequently when it happens its getting harder...

thought i was going to get stranded at work today...

any thoughts?? i tried my spare keys, also same problem, wondering if i can put lubricant in any way.....

thanks for the help....i tried a search no luck

my dad had that problem in his chevy truck this spring. it sounds like it needs a new ignition lock cylinder. but you can always to spray some wd40 in there though and see if that helps.

Yeah trying a little WD wont hurt anything, but a new lock cylinder and keys will be the proper fix. Your key cylinder 'tumblers' are worn out.

I remember messing around with a aftermarket shifter on my A4, well one day after driving it I could not get my key out of the ignition it wouldnt turn or release my key or anything. I though it was something wrong with the cylinder case so I took it all apart and found nothing. After a while I realized the new shifter put pressure on the selector so my car though it was in drive so it would not let the key out.

dont know if you can relate but just giving you some food for thought.

But I dont think WD40 will cause and problems

WD40 Could go suck it. Use graphite. < Way better than wd40.

wd40 wears out too quickly. Graphite works in.
