Default ls1 to ls6 conversion

I am new to the ls1. I just bought a 2000 ws6 trans am a couple of months ago and I was wondering if this ls1 could be turned into a ls6, or do I have to buy an ls6 out of a broken down corvette or cts-v?

All you need is the Ls6 cam and heads and the valvesprings to convert it. I would port those ls6 heads or the ls1.

And a big waste of time for 15 hp. Buy a Lid, Port your TB and a K&N you spend about $150 and gain as much, if not more than you would buying all the LS6 Stuff.

cam, heads, springs, and intake. Mine made 405rwhp but that's full bolt on's and a FAST90/NW 90. It would be a lot smarter to go with something else if you have a fine working motor as I only did it because I blew my old one and could get a crate longblock really cheap. If you don't want it to be too aggressive then go with a cam more like a 224 and keep you stock heads. The LS6 cam is even a lot smaller than that. If you want to make a little more power and stay streetable then look into the high 220's or lower 230's and go with some aftermarket heads.

Thanks for the info. Will it be ok with the egr system that I have on my 2000 T/A or do I have to remove that?

You will have to get rid of the EGR and get it tuned out!!!

very easy to remove egr. you'll need got get a block off plate for the exhaust manifold. before you get an ls6 intake manifold, you'll need to block off the hole in the manifold too.
