A few nitorus LT1 Q's I read just about everything in the Nitrous sticky. I just have a few Q's! note: this is basically a "stock" car with a Built A4. 1. Is a tune Required for a wet 125 or 150 shot? 2. Would stock timing be fine or would I need to have some pulled? 3. Would I need 1 or 2 heat range colder plugs? All answer's are appreciated! |
i went with 1 step colder plugs (tr6) and a 255 fuel pump. still running stock timing and tune. i usally spray 100 to 125. no problems yet |
Latest times in my sig. I pull 5 degrees with a 685 box on the nitrous, and run TR6's. Even threw a few gallons of 104 unleaded in it just to keep it safe. With a few more small improvements, I think it has a 10.50 in it. We'll see in the spring time. |

1. Is a tune Required for a wet 125 or 150 shot? A nitrous "tune" does not necessarily mean re-flashing the PCM...it just means verifying that the motor is in a safe operating range. This is verifying A/F ratio and that you have the correct spark plugs and timing advance to keep the motor safe.

3. Would I need 1 or 2 heat range colder plugs? For the LT1 to get the most out of the kit, I suggest upgrading the fuel pump, and the ignition system. The extra cylinder pressure generated from nitrous can sometimes require more spark than the stock ignition can supply. The Mallory 685... http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog...roduct_id=3200 ... is nice for the LT1 as it will not only improve spark quality, but it also includes a window switch and timing retard capabilities. If you all ready have an ignition box, there are add on modules to give you timing retard if yours doesn't have it. I have quite a bit of experience spraying the LT1...if you have any other questions feel free to PM, email or call me. I will be happy to help any way I can. |
