Default 1/2" or larger head studs? Materials? O-ring?

Whats it cost to upgrade to a larger head stud and how big are people going? This is a nitrous motor that will be seing a large shot and need the heads to stay down!!!! Also would it just be good enough to go L19 or Custom age 625+?? would like to spray 400-550. Also should I go ahead with O-ringing the motor? If so should I do both Head and block or one or the other?

About 2 years ago, I had W2W install 1/2" head studs and machine the block/heads for o-ring and reciever groove.

For the 1/2" head studs, the machine work was $500 if I remember correctly, and another $250 for the 1/2" head studs. They were the standard 8740 ARP 2000 material.

For another $350 I think, they machined the block for the receiver grooves and then added the o-rings to the heads.

ON this combo, I used plain copper head gaskets with some special tricks to avoid any water seepage. No issues at all. At my last track outing of the year, I put the 300hp jets in the plate and had some fun. Too bad I had traction issues on the top end of the track which didn't allow me to better my times. Oh well, but I still never pushed a drop of water, and has NEVER pressurized the cooling system. Worked very well for what it was.

Now for 2009, we'll see how the 6 head bolts are going to work out
