Problems with Microedge, a few Q's from first times experience spraying Hey everyone, Well I installed a HSW universal lsx wet kit on the car, and I am really happy with the install. Its super stealth. Besides a leaky gauge which lost me my first fill, but w/e. I got tsr plugs nitro kit bottle heater purge hp tuning for timing retard microedge Well, first time around the bottle leaked a little while we are trying to tighten up all connections and finally got that solved. It leaked a few times, not tooo long, but some definitely lost some. Purged once or twice for grins, saw a little clear cloud, that made me happy. My bottle pressure was like 900 at that point. At that point I set the microedge up and take it out. I started with a 100 just for reference. I really limited how it sprayed but I went out and gave it a 60 mph punch. I really felt like it hit hard, shut it down at like 130. It was bone stock before though, and all at once it got tuned, catback borla, and a 100 shot, so i really cant compare stock to now. But after that run, i check the microedge and its flashing at me telling me im running lean, I KNOW for sure im not running lean, but it keeps saying that. It runs strong and good so thats why im sure. Well I ran it 3 or 4 times, and it felt faster than it did, but not quite what I expected. I than returned home to austin and checked my bottle pressure. I was at 600 psi than, I tried to do a purge for grins in the parking garage where I stay and all that came out was air, no cloudy purge or anything. So i thought, hmmm, whats the deal. I went out a little bit later and sprayed it with a friend and prolly got 4 or 5 runs out of it, each time I'd do it the microedge would flash, which was the only thing letting me know she sprayed. I checked on the psi today and it was at 400, which i figure is little to none, correct? So my questions are I was on a 100 shot, is it reasonable my bottle is already empty? I feel like I didnt get much bang for the buck, I made some runs but damn that 10 lbs. bottle emptied quick Is it bad that the microedge is flashing? also, sometimes it would let me spray, and sometimes it wouldnt, like it would just randomly on some pulls spray, and sometimes not. I did not understand this. My bottle heater is also not working, im 90% sure it is wired correctly but you never know, my gauge was busted from HSW so my heater may be bad. Is it essential for spraying good? Thanks guys for any help, I just want this car to run good BTW the microedge had to be wired into the 02 sensor, and ever since than its been setting off an exhaust related check engine light. anything to worry about? Im not sure why its doing that |
also, when my bottle pressure was low (600 or so) I saw no cloud when I purged, just air. Is this normal? last q i promise :) |

Im not sure why its doing that What do you have your lean setting at on the box? If it is flashing, it's not gonna spray. The ME will actually say "spraying" The best thing you can do is get a wideband. The narrowband O2's get less accurate the further they get away from 14.7. I think 5-6 good runs with purging for the hell of it will run down a bottle. |

Ill look into a wideband for sure though, thats a good idea. I kinda was worried I wasnt spraying, but there is no way my psi would have gone from 900 to 400 in one night without spraying some correct? Ill brb, gonna call the mechanic |
If you have your car right now I can walk you through it in PM's. |
thanks id love that, u still on? |
sweet your on |
Well I played with the car some more. I turned the car on, turned the bottle heater on, opened the bottle valve, and tried to turn the flathead both ways and i didnt get anything :( IDK what to do at this point. I guess I need to check all my wiring, i was sure it was set up correctly, but I guess I cant be so sure. Well thanks for any help. Any other advice u could throw at me would be good! thanks for talking with me tonite, I really appreciate you getting me aquainted with the microedge, it was really intimidating at first but its getting to seem to be easier now. Dont freeze ur balls off up there in alaska haha, i hope to talk with you again soon |
the bottle pressure will fluctuate with air temp so if you are seeing it drop when the temp drops that could be normal especially without a heater or NANO and especially since it sounds like you sprayed it what 8-10 times and purged a bit, yea i would definatly expect the bottle pressure to be low, how do you "KNOW" that it is not running lean or getting lean spikes, just because it feels good doesnt mean that it is, and up to a point if you are running lean it will feel very strong, you can check plugs but if you are hitting the n2o and then driving home the plug reads wont be very accurate, the best way would be do get a datalogger and/or wide band. You need to get the bottle pressure right first off, and then you need to really find out what is going on in your motor and get facts to back it up besides just a seat of the pants guess. |

It looks like you might have a few setting either incorrect or slightly off. At what voltage are you commanding the a/f shut down to kill the system? What wire did you tap into on the stock o2's? If its throwing a code, chances are you might have the wrong wire tapped into. Anytime it says lean, its not going to allow the system to spray so don't expect to feel a big gain. Also performance is also going to diminish with bottle pressure and capacity. How long did you hold the purge down? This is generally the biggest drain on the bottle. Do me a favor and jump over to the support system. www.harrisspeedworks.com/support and fill out a ticket. We can walk you through verifying that settings are correct and that you have everything wired up correctly. Both with the microedge and the heater kit. Thanks. Nick
