Will it respond well to nitrous???
I called Lunati to get a cam spec'd for me the other day and they called me with the numbers today, I dont really know if it will work well with my combo. I have a stock 2000 ls1, vic. jr intake, holley 750 carb, powerglide tranny w/trans brk, 4000 fti stall, and 4:10 gears in a 1989 mustang notch. I want a cam that makes good power N/A but will respond well to the 150hp nos cheaters kit that I will be using. I will be driving the car some on the street so I want to have decent torque around town but will be spraying occasionally at the track. The cam they specd for me is 278/286 advertised 227/231 @.050 .651/.651 108deg lobe. I figured I needed a little more exh. duration for the bottle to help evacuate the cyl. better. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Depends on the exhaust, what are you running?
That doesn't sound bad, and should drive o.k. I'd cut the lift back a little bit and add some duration but that's me.
FYI, at a 150 hp level, everything works fine, you won't see any gains from a nitrous specific cam until you start trying to put 250+ to it, or in this case, more then the stock bottom end will take.

This is my first build so I dont know **** about this, but from what I've read a cam with more duration makes peak power higher in the rpm range, doesnt my stock cube motor need to make peak power early? I thought .651 was a bit much for the lift but I'm wondering the benifits of less lift and more duration other than it being easier on the valvetrain. I've been reading the stickys but this is still unclear to me. As far as my exhaust, I need to order kooks headers I guess 1.75" tube? and have a 3" h-pipe with flows.

Keep the lift under 600 and the valvetrain will be happy for alot longer time. The duration isn't the deciding factor, overlap and lsa have alot more to do with it.
The carb will take alot lower lsa @, so the 106 I would leave. I'd just bump the duration to say 230/240, and leave the lift around 590 on both sides, lsa on a 106. That will work, not need a TON of rpm, should still be done by 6500 or so, and will make good power on and off the nitrous.

I finally got a cam ordered today but I'm still leary of what it is going to run like. I got it from lunati and the specs are 238/243 @.050 .600/.600 lift and 112LSA. Keep in mind that this is a bone stock 2000 ls1 with a vic. jr and a 750hp carb with a 150 shot. Will it make good power on and off the bottle? I ordered lunati's new gold spring kit good for .660 lift. I am undecided on lifters and pushrods(length), I'm thinking ls6 or ls7 lifter for the money. Give me your opinions.
