Default Bolt on A4, stock trans, will it take a 100 shot?

Hey,

I'm planning bolt on's only, and have 60k miles on the clock. Just wondering if the stock A4 transmission will hold up with a progressive 100 dry shot?
If so will 150 be pushing it?

Thanks for the advise

A 100 rhwp shot with a progressive controller is a relatively safe setup on a bolt on car. "Relatively" is the operating word in that sentence given that there's always risks involved.

That being said a 150 rwhp shot tends to be a bit more of a stretch for the A4 (and the stock bottom end). That being said, there are plenty of people with that size hit and haven't reported any problems.

Personally I was trying to squeeze as much as I could safely out of my bottom end and am jetted for a 100 shot on a H/C/I/E car. My tuner told me to start saving for a new short block if I went with the 150 shot.....not saying it would happen soon, but it was understood that the day would come.

I ran a 150 for some time on my stock bottom end LT1 with 130k miles with no problems, but my car is a 6 speed. As for the automatics, I have always heard don't spray through the shifts or launch on the spray and it should hold together just fine.

If your tuner can tune and you have all the safety **** you should be fine with a 150 shot. If he can't tune worth a **** stay at 100.

At the very least invest in a Wideband.

My 101,000 mile car took 10 nitrous passes today like a champ. ( 100 shot )

Here's the slip, left lane motor, right lane n20.

Runs were on street tires, but I was spraying it out of the hole. This is the car I drive daily, 46 miles round trip to work.

Your mileage may vary.

I am running a 100 shot on my stock interns, with everybolt on, on earth!
Stock converter and rearend (3:73"s)! I have a Great Tuner Man, and he thinks we are good for now. More sup. stuff next, he says... so rear is going longer! It is a racin thing... it will blow sometime!

That is part of the fun... lol

13.50's NA, and 11.60 on the spray, that's a hell of a improvement!

Thanks for all your replys

You should be fine. If you're overly concerned, just set up a window switch so you don't spray through the shifts.

Add a vette servo and transgo hd2 shift kit and you will run stronger and safer. These items will keep your trans from slipping with your newfound power.

Ask me how I know>>>
