Default How much timing for 100 -125 shot ?

I had a M/O tune done to my PCM so Im trying to figure out what is the stock timing on a 98 Z LS1 -A4 at idle and at full advance . My is @ 9 -10* at idle and @40 at 3500 rpm according to my scanner . I am going to have a couple of degrees taken out when I get my tune . Since my PCM has been altered .I just want to know where stock timing was .

It's kind of hard to believe you're at 40 degrees at WOT. My guess is that you're probably around 28 . Stock, I believe is 24-26. I would start at 22 degrees, and work up from there according to the plugs

Thanks !! Its probably because its just a $99 code reader scanner . Might not be accurate . LOL . But it does read 40* in park @ 3500 rpm .It didnt make sense to me either . But it is supposed to be @ 24-26* at full advance ??

3500 rpm in park is not peak timming. you need to do a real run.
in the few cars i have running 100-150 shot we run 24-26* in them. i do toss a couple gal of 110 in the tank to be safe. but they seem to like between 24-26 my new stock set up i will start with 100 shot just to see what it does and i will start with 24* with full 110 in the tank

Thanks ! Since I dont have the option of changing it myself . Should I ask the tuner to set it to @22 peak with a 125 shot .Would that be OK ? Ill be running 92-93 octane .Of course Ill keep an eye on the plugs , just to make sure .I know every car is different . I was going to pull the timing when I get my tune for my 4000 stall .I dont want to start banging off the rev limiter

I have a ls3 but for a 150 shot with a Nos plate (125@wheels) I am pulling 8 degrees on pump gas. 26* on motor and 18* on pump,20* on race fuel. We tried 20* on pump and it melted #7 and 8 plugs... tr6s. Tried 18 deg on race fuel and the timing mark on the plugs were still to close to the threads. Switched to tr7s gapped @ .030 and did a dyno run and it was perfect.

I am no nitrous expert but I expect some veteran guys say there is something wrong with your setup.

7 and 8 are always first to go.. but yes, you have another issue. probably not timming. probably fuel.

First off they are not tr7's and dont trust the dyno, get your car out at the track and tune on the spray there. Look at my thread and you will know why.

Ran good on the dyno on a 100 shot and 200 shot. Perfect plugs and all. Took it to the track and on the 200.

Man I hope you are joking right? If not you better put your flame suit on.

Tr6's can be used but they are not good for nitrous because they are a projected tip plug. You would want to use a br6 for around up to a 125 shot and a br7ef for bigger than that. Both of those I mentioned are non-projected tip plugs.

Stock timing is 26* ( I believe ) and if you wanted to be on the safer side of things i'd suggest taking at least 4*-6* of timing for the 100-125hp shot.
