Anyone heard of this? Guru's take a look! Just put in a NOS #5177 kit in my friends 99 Trans Am. The thing ran like a total pooch. I check everything, and tested the Nitrous to make sure it was spraying. Still Pooching (G-Tech ET was 13.19 @112mph). I rechecked again and drove the car with the switch off, punched it and felt the car pull harder. Tried a G run again...serious pooch again. Pissed off, I told him to get his tools out of the back while we were out on the road for a jet change. He pulls out his Hypertech PP. That was it, he had his power tuning in. It must of advanced the timing enought to get engine knock! We reprogrammed the cars computer....Whammo! G-Tech ET 12.69@118mph with massive tire spin in second gear. I had no idea that HPP3 could mess up nitrous use! Nitrous Guru's I have learned yet another lesson about using the juice! Return your HPP3 to stock before you put the nose candy to it! [ May 03, 2002, 02:06 AM: Message edited by: Fast SS on NOS ] |
Re: Anyone heard of this? Guru's take a look! Advanced timeing and N2O is a very bad idea. Was there any noticable knock? Any A/F monitoring going on? |
Re: Anyone heard of this? Guru's take a look! I ran a 12.78 with my programming on and the mods in my sig.... hmmmm I do hear a lot of pinging when using it to tho.... My I'lll try without it now. I should lose some time too then probably? Mike |
Re: Anyone heard of this? Guru's take a look! I didnt hear any knock. Maybe because the PCM retarded the timing to get it down. I dont have the best hearing though. Talked to the speed shop today, and they said without a doubt, not to run power tune with the nitrous. The timing advance could cause damage at launch, then the pcm will make the car puke out. |
Re: Anyone heard of this? Guru's take a look! I thought that was the first commandment! Thou shalt not run thy nitrous with thy HPP programming still in thy car! |
