Default possible to use ch1 control output on NOS 15974 to initiate timing retard on LNC2000?

Have a 2006 GTO M6 and attempting to clean up a crappy wiring job done by a previous installer. Everything is going smooth so far, however I am trying to figure out how to get the output control signal from the mini controller (5v signal from yellow or orange wire) to work with the timing retard signal input wire from the LNC2000 (requires 12v signal to activate).

I am spraying a 200hp wet shot at about a 0.5-1.0 second progression on nitrous/fuel delivery, and want to pull 7 degrees of timing at the same rate of progression (0.5-1.0 second), and want this to happen immediately as the solenoids fire so the timing retard will start exactly when needed, then reset ramp rates each time I shift (not a fan of "no lift shift"). Again, solenoids are run off a 5v circuit.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to make this happen?? I have tried numerous searches, but nobody running my combo of electronics seem to have their retard activation wired up as such, only active as soon as system is armed, which will keep the lnc2000 at max retard for duration of it being armed. Any help would be much appreciated!

That looks like a solid solution. Someone else recently recommended using a relay to convert the 5v signal to 12v...would that also work? any thoughts on if one way is better than the other?

That's another option. That was my original idea. Some relays have a range that they can trigger on, so I think it just depends on the relay if it will trigger with 5v.
