Nitrous solenoid locked shut - heat soaked? To much pressure?

So after a four all motor runs at the track, when I went to hit the switch on my fifth, nitrous wouldn't work. Pulled over and didn't hear the solenoid clicking. Pressure was at 1100psi. After time passed and the car cooled off a bit, it started working. Heat soak? I've also read that the solenoid won't open if pressure is too high?

Yesterday I redid the wiring and ran the ground straight to the battery.

Most likely to much bottle pressure. Are the solenoids older? Plunger possibly dimpled and sticking a little?

Yeah, they are super old. 1987. Hahahaha!!!

Can they be rebuilt?

OK, put those solenoids in a museum, and get some new ones...

Solenoids can be rebuilt and are prob identical to some being sold still today. But wit the price of some of the smaller noids (up to 200-250 n20) it's almost cheaper to just buy new. Zex noids are cheap and work, Nitrous outlet and nitrous express along with a couple other companies offer a generic line probably just like what you have. For the price I'd just throw a new n20 noids on and go with that, you can try to keep pressure between 800-850 and see how that works for you. If the tune was right with 1100psi it'll be a little rich at 850psi.

Hahahaha!!!!! Girlfriend cracked up when I told her about this response. Pretty good!

Thinking about going with ZEX.

mine did the same thing when over 1300psi -- they get stock...below that no problem

Yep mine did the same thing, Nitrous Outlet rebuilt mine. The plunger was dimpled.
