How does a solenoid body crack?

Default How does a solenoid body crack?
One of my Iceman solenoids has 2 very fine cracks in the body under the tower. It'a a big solenoid and made of steel also so what would cause it to crack? Any ideas?

Sounds like a manufacturers defect.

They want me to send it in to be bench tested but I already know what's wrong with it. And I doubt they can fix it being older.
