Default Any Nitrous Casualties This Year?

One of my New Years resolutions (actually the only one) is to get juiced this year.

After 6 years, I still haven't convinced the wife that N20 is safe. She's from the old school thinking, especially after seeing her uncles tear down motors weekly when they used N20 decades ago.

So I guess I am trying to "build my case" to get it hooked up to a H/C/Bolt-Ons LS1. I thought about hiding it from her but that would be hard, especially since she's the sole money manager. The true fears are that if I have a N20 accident, we won't be able to pay for a rebuild.

The evidence gathering begins........."now"...

We sprayed a 300 dry shot this year. That was a loud boom.

I had a good year without any major mishaps. Before the really cold weather came I started playing with a TNT 200 shot on the street, no boom yet.

I've sprayed on and off for 2 1/2 years now.

However...if she's against N2O, try a bait and switch...

"Then what about a turbo setup, honey..."

I threw a 275-shot down the pipe of a stock 5.0 Mustang. Results were as expected....7.7s in the 1/8 and a 3' fireball @ the traps. All because I didn't give a perfect description of what plugs I needed to the guy that got them.

I don't think anyone has really ever had a problem with a 100 shot from any brand as long as they changed the plugs and gapped em rite. I wouldn't go over that with your H/C setup unless you upgrade your fuel pump. Just make sure you get a window switch. That is the cheap insurance you need for your motor. Worth every dime it cost and every min of install time.

Thanks for your input folks.

A turbo would be uber cool, but we don't have the uber $.

Yup, with my H/C set up, I will have to get the upgraded fuel pump (Walbro?). I will have to get the plugs, swap out my 4.10's for 3.73's, get all the safety devices (FPSS too?), and get it retuned.

Dang, I dropped $400 just last year for the H/C tune, will it cost that much again for a nitrous tune ?

Any addtional input is appreciated folks. Oh and.....

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

So true. I am going to try to take this route, but saving money "aside" from her will be tough. We live paycheck to paycheck.

I'm gonna give it all I got in trying though.

I wouldn't get a Walbro, that's what I run & have no problems with it, but if I had to do it all over again, I would go with the Plug & Play setup from racetronix. I spray anything from a 150 to 250 wet shot on a pretty regular basis on a stock short block. I do have many safety's, I have a walbro 255, fpss, Ramchargers timing tuner & I check my plugs regularly. If you don't get a timing tuner, then at least get a window switch. If you keep the shot to around a 100 & use the correct safety's & everything is hooked up correctly, then you shouldn't have any issues with blowing your motor.

I wish I could take the "pay off bills" advice prior to modding. It's surely the wisest route.

But we have always been in some degree of debt, so based on that, my 98 Z28 would still be bone stock right now

My creditors are going to be hella pissed off if I die anytime soon

AMEN BROTHER.

That is my motto without any doubt.

At this point, there seems to be no true nitrous casualties.....my case is getting stronger. The momentum builds.

I WILL be on the bottle this year!
