cutting back the ground strap on tr6's.

has anyone tried cutting back the ground strap on a set of tr6 plugs to see if they work any better. was just wondering.

Nope, never wanted to as I have always had excellent results with the TR-6's. Interesting option though.

Can you explain why you would want to do this?

I thought the reasons for using colder plugs were: 1) colder temp reduces chances of detonation; and 2) smaller gap reduces chances of spark blowing out due to higher cylinder pressure. If you cut the groud strap, it seems like that would make the gap larger, negating the effect of #2 above.

its a age-old trick and you still gap it. It's just now the spark is more exposed to the CC and you get a better flame front.

Guess its like indexing plugs = FPITA! Post up your results if you decide to try it, which in theory should give some positive results.

excuse the note in the pic, but try some of these Autolite 472 plugs.
They already have shorter grounds and are perfect plugs for the bottle.
