Default Anybody with a forged 408 spraying?

I blew the 5.3 in my truck and I will be getting my 6L block monday or tuesday. Im going to put a forged 408 rotating assembly in it and I am wondering how much I can spray on it and it be reliable. This truck is DD so I need this motor to last. My 5.3 lasted a week after I did the cam swap in it so this is the last I want to do motor work.

it all depends on what kinda parts you go with in the motor and what type of kit : single or dual stages, progressive shots , ect.

I currently have a NX single nozzle wet kit, soon to be a dual nozzle kit with progressive controller and stand alone fuel system.

I am making close to 520whp on motor now and spray 50-150 shots all the time.

In a few weeks, car will see some 250+ shots.

It will a dual stage 150 wet nozzle and baout a 75-100 dry shot. So a two nozzle intake setup. It will have stock heads for a while but then Im going to put a set of stage 2 heads on it, crane gold RR's and stock truck intake with some larger injectors on down the road. Right now Im thinking of doing the 225 to 250 shot should be good and safe.

Made over 700 on 3 different 408s with different internals on each. You do want some good internals for sure.

I have:
Lunati crank
Lunati billit rods
Diamond Forged nirtrous pistons.
Callaco bearings.

Going all eagel forged probably. They should be good enough. Im going to drop a ms3 cam in it and a set of crane gold roller rockers along iwth 921 springs so I think that setup should be pretty stout and reliable with a 10:1 CR so Im not pushing the envelope and I could always get the heads milled to raise the CR some more if needed later and its alot easier than changing pistons.

Nitrous loves compression. Get your CR into the 11:1 range. The eagle stuff is baseline, you have a lot of room for upgrades in the shortblock.

Skip the roller rockers, get a custom made cam instead of buying one made for a 346.

Call up Bryan at LME --->
and speak with him for a while. He'll get your going

I agree with SIL, you don't need the rockers, the stockers can handle it. I'd say you can throw up to a 300 shot on a well built 408 with a lower compression ratio. When I rebuild my 408 this winter I'm putting in 1/2" head studs and going with the SCE Titan ringed head gaskets to help keep the heads down.

Im going with 10:1 CR so I dont have to worry about detonation and it gets hot as hell in houston plus I tow and I dont want to push it too far. At this point I dont want to do the big *** head studs and high dollar gaskets Ill do all that when the good heads get put on it in the future. True that cam is made for a 346 but never-the-less it still has the specs that I want. Im not totally 100% set on the MS3 but Ill probably end up with it or one close.

I'm in houston too. I run 11:3:1 CR and spray some big shots .

2 things you don't want to skimp out on are the gaskets and cam. You want a good quench with a smaller head gasket (.040) to prevent detonation.

Like i said, talk to LME (they are in houston off beltway 8 and clay road) and let them know your goals. They will hook you up.
