Ok....how's this for a dumb idea??? I've got a dyno run scheduled for tomorrow morning around 11:00. I don;t have a bottle heater (I usually don't need one, more worried about high pressure than low pressure 8 months out of the year)......and it should be nice, around 80, here in SoCal tomorrow.....so it's not like it's gonna be real low pressure. But I drove the car to work today.....and in the morning it was only around 700 psi.......and it took sitting in the sun until around 2:00 to get pressure up to 900. So.....here's my stupid idea....... I've got this nice hot tub just sitting here......water temp is always at 100.....what if I put my bottle up to the valve in the hot tub an hour or so before I leave for the dyno????? I'm thinking that's just hair-brained ghetto enough that it just might work.....:lol: Whatcha think? Should I be laughed off this board???? :loco: |

Watch your pressure in the tub. I have 95* thermastats on my heater and that is 1150psi, so 100* maybe 1200psi or more. Just a caution on getting it to your running pressure. With a dry set-up a higher pressure is just like up sizing your jets, more power, so no real problem. It doesn't change a/f like a wet kit would. Robert |
Thanks Robert.....any idea how long I should leave it in the hot tub? And just exactly what is the desired PSI on a 5177 kit? The NOS recommendation is 850 IIRC.....but it seems everyone runs higher than that... |

If I were you, I would get an electric gauge in the cockpit and use a heater. Also, NX's heater automatically shuts off at a set PSI level. |
Actually, the NOS heater or the Dyno Tune heater is a better purchase (not sure whet watt Nitrous Direct is) because they are 300watt heaters, compared to NX's 240watt. This means a 300watt heater will heat bottle in 80% of the time it takes a NX heater. Just watch the pressure in the tub (bottle gauge). Robert |
LMAO, I just put my bottle in the floor on the way to the track yesterday. Let the heat blow on it for about an hour. Worked great! I left the bottle in the garage and it was a bit cold, usually it's in the house, and the pressure is really close to where I want it to be. But hey, you gotta do what works for the given time and situation..... |

You can simply run some hot water over the bottle at the dyno facilitys rest room. Be careful though the pressure will jump up very fast. The fire and Ice is a awesome part. Its a little pricey due to all the feature. The 860 heater is also a sweet heater. We sell many NX heaters and I run one of there regular heaters on my car and I do not see a problem with it taken long to heat up. Dave |

I see what you are saying, Our new Nitrous Outlet bottle heater 300 watts.But I still do not see there being much difference over the 240 watt. I also here people not liking the 300 watts because of the larger amperage draw. These are mostly race guys and not street guys though. I guess you cant please them all.LOL Dave |

No you mis read the post. We are going to build a new Nitrous Oultet heater kit. This way we will have the NX,The Fire and Ice, 860 performance and our New heater... I will not give any details but I will say our heater desighn is different from the others... Dave |
