TIMESLIP from Jan 06 GMHighTechPerform LS1 v LS2 Shootout
Rick Jensen emailed me the time slip...a couple of threads asked what was up with the shootout times...I marked the Cars, React Time and 60 Foot
Result was:
GTO 12.52 @ 114.08
WS6 12.85 @ 117.04
WS6 got beat off the line! Just FYI - get the magazine for the whole story!!
- Macon

The mag dosen't say hardly anything about how the cars ran besides the et and top speed, and even that they post 2 different sets of numbers.
Macon, thankls for getting that, that shows the Fbody would smoke the GTO if the driver actually launched the Fbody, instead of a pathetic 2.3 60'.
So essentially take 6 tenths off the TA's time if you want a fair comparison.

Vinny, did you mean .06 or .6. I don't see that T/A doing a 1.7 60' on nitrous and radials even with a good driver, maybe .06 better. Either way our system still won, woohoo! Just kidding, seeing that they were 3-4 tenths apart the whole way, it would have been a very good race if the T/A had a better 60'.

Well looks to me like the ws6 is the faster car if the 60ft would have been the same. He should have been able to get atleast a 2.1 .Good story but they do need to be alittle more detailed on the story.

Even if the 60ft was same The gto still win the reaction times need a little help. lol
There is a larger split at the finish line then at the 60ft time.. Some one might need to check my math on this.. .287 difference at 60ft and .335 at the end. wonder if the clutch went by by...

Jeremy,
No I do mean .6sec. What ever you gain in the 60' almost always exactly doubles off your 1/4mi time. (there are exception of course) but its usually dead on.
So if the TA droped from a 2.3 to a 2.0 60', then he should drop .6 sec off his 1/4 time.
Flip throuh some old time slips, you see it almost always works.

I would guess that they did the 100 on gto and 125 on ws6 was to even out the two cars in power sence the gto make so much more stock.

T/A
N/A N2O Gain
322.5hp 425.5hp 103hp
336.0tq 478.1tq 142tq
GTO
N/A N2O Gain
338hp 447hp 109hp
340tq 497tq 157tq
I was surprised at what the GTO made stock compared to the slightly modded T/A.
Does anyone happen to know the weight of each vehicle at the time of the race?

Looks to me like the shot on the GTO was rated at the wheels and the shot on the 'Bird was rated at the flywheel from the manufacturers. All you had to do was look at the mph in the article to see which car was stronger in the quarter.
