can't find the hole hey everybody, hope everyone had a good new years, and aren't too hung over i am FINALLY starting the install for my nitrous kit. I am running the line inside the car....unless i can't find a good hole in the firewall to run the line so thats my question...where the hell is there a factory hole in the firewall to run a nitrous line? I might just run it underneath the car, since it doesn't hardly even see rain, but I still have lots of wiring to run throughout the car for my guages, heater, remote opener, etc etc etc would it be just a lot easier to run the a line from the batter into the interior and then set up a panel to tie everything into? Some stuff I am going to wire direct and others I am going to need to tie into the ignition. I guess I was just wondering if I would be overloading the car by wiring everything to one line? or to one ignition line? heres what I'm going to end up wiring remote bottle opener heater 2 gauges purge my electric cutout arming switch line lock i figured that I might want to wire the heater direct to the battery, so i can turn on heat in the staging lanes...i think the rest can run off the ignition if i do decide to go with a panel and wire everything up together, like my buddy did here in his cobra: http://www.gotstang.com/photodisplay...1&showimage=83 I want to do something like that...I think, but I don't know where I could put it so everything is nice and clean...inside the engine bay maybe? looking for some comments, ideas...and mainly Robert to straighten me up and show me how to do this right :jest: I'll probably just keep adding my questions to this post as I go along with my kit install. I just finished my cam install, but I think most of my questions for this kit will be appearance and wiring questions thanks guys  |
Matt, pull the kick panel/door sill trim on the passanger side and run it through the grommet behind the PCM. You'll have to remove the PCM which is no big deal. Make sure that the nitrous line is covered with some convoluted tubing because there is alot of shit for it to chew through in that corner. |
Thanks Andrew, What about the wiring? My 2 gauges go on the pillar, so where can i run wires on the drivers side? |
That Cobra guy did some very nice wiring. Myself, I like to keep the relays/high amp loads in the engine compartment. You can use one 12v switched ign source for all your toggles to power your relays, as it takes only milla amps to activate a relay (total amp draw might be a couple amps). I like to supply each device with it's own batt 12v and fuse (to relay), you can gauge each wire to it's expected amp load (I used a 12v batt acc terminal post in engine bay). One thing about wiring the heater directly to the battery, is make sure you have a transducer to shut it down, and watch battery drainage as I have killed my batt a few times from heater. This is what can happen in worse case senerio, ie: no transducer and discs in blow off were messesd with, http://healthyhome.net/explosionPic1.jpg Robert |

Or would this be something in the kit? Its the NOS pressure sensor heater. |

I poped a 1/4" hole and put in a grommet right above the brake pedal for all that stuff. That seemed to be the easiest way for me at the time. For gauge power I tapped off the fuse block (I believe it was the gauges fuse I tapped). You can get fuse taps at any autoparts stores. Everything else is tied to a non switched source mainley for ease of testing the set up and it was simpler. All relays are run to the battery post or Aux. post and all power for the switches is run off cig lighter circuit (my sig lighter/acc has been eliminated and rerouted). I would suggest that you find a switched source though. It would probrably be best to pull from ignition 1 under the steering collum (pink wire) for the switches. |
The NOS heater contains a thermastatic transducer ratehr than a mechanical transducer, so yes it's included. my acc term for 12v batt power is right next to batt on the C5. In pic on back side of msd ws's, is batt compartment, I put all my relays and most of wiring in this area, other than my labeled relays you'ed be hard pressed to tell extra wiring from stock wiring. http://home.comcast.net/~weaver.robe...8/site1061.jpg Robert |
slick, thanks guys! |
im sorry but that is the funniest thread title ever. . |

crap, i just noticed i might be missing a part i have eletric guages to measure the nitrous pressure, but no adaptor to connect it to the system. where would you guys put this sending unit, and what connector should I use? Sponors? or would this be something NAPA or something would have |
Man after i saw the title i thought you were having problems with your wife :jest: |
Do you have any plugged ports on the neck of your bottle valve? If so, pull the plug and put your sending unit there. The port should be 1/8" NPT like your autometer sending unit. Don't forget to telon paste all your NPT fittings. |
ah, i was wondering why they had that plug there ;) |
okay, so what about the sending unit for the fuel pressure?? I bought a fitting to go on the end of my fuel rail from dynotune, dual tapped. I have one going out to the fuel noid and the other to the FPSS. where can i tap in the selenoid? |
The fuel pressure sending unit will screw into the other port across from the FPSS. |
where would my fuel line for the fuel selenoid go then?? sorry i just woke up and the car is in the garage...if i remember right, that fuel fitting wont connect to the end of the fuel rail |
Is your fuel line -4AN? It should hook right on to the end of your two port manifold. The two female pipe thread ports are for your FPSS and sending unit and the AN male end is to supply your fuel noid. I'm thinking that NOS sent you the adapter to hook the FPSS up to a -4an connection and you put it on the AN side of the manifold? |
Look at the end of my fuel rail, yours should look like this except your manifold has another NPT port opposite where my sending unit is. http://nitrousfedmuscle.com/images/powerring4.jpg Damn, I still had power steering in that pic, those where the days. lol. |
hey GMuscle what size belt to remove power steering??? |
