There are plenty of SCCA events in the area down here. Just check out the website for any info. I know PIR has SCCA events over in the paddock parking area sometimes. I might be interested in this as well, but to be honest, I'd much rather get some track time on PIR's roadcourse. I mean, why limit yourself to 30-40mph in a parking lot full of cones....

Some of the larger local car clubs rent the whole track for a day or two at a time. I'm talking about the Porsche, Ferrari and Viper clubs with deep pockets lol... They often times have extra spots available and allow anyone with a car that can pass tech inspection. I believe PIR has posted track-day events on their website, with the corresponding car club. Just contact the car club ahead of time about the day you want to attend and inquire with them about the particulars. That's it man. It's usually anywhere from 100-200.00 per day, but you get alot of seat time from what I've heard. I've wanted to do this for years.

You can sign up to take a driving class through cascade sports car club, that's a night of class, full day of driving on the road track. After you do 2 classes, I think you can just do the HPDE (high perf. driving event) and not the lecture.
I was looking on the oregon scca website about the auto-x, looks like fun.

why would you limmit yourself to 30-40mph?
I hit 50-60 regularly (sideways at that)
there's also a big *** difference in $30 for a day of Auto-Xing
and $175 or so for a couple hours of lapping

It's all in the preference I guess, but for me, I'd rather go twice or three times a year to a lapping day than 15 auto-x events. I'd much rather pass a Viper down PIR's straight stretch at a buck 30 than trying to beat an STi's time by .5 second through a set of cones. I'm not saying auto-x wouldn't be fun, just saying if I had the choice I'd pick a lapping day hands down.

All the auto-x events I've seen around here are small courses designed for imports, like Neons, STi's, EVO's, and Hondas. I have yet to see an event with a decent straight section to stretch the legs. Put it this way, if my car had 3.23 gears, I wouldn't have to shift one time at the auto-x events around here.
