Saw a pretty nasty Impala SS ('95) the other day
...in of all places, here in Clovis, NM. It definitely proves the "who's got the fastest blah blah blah" threads wrong, in saying that not EVERYTHING out there on the streets is posted on the 'net!
I saw this guy's Impy a couple years ago up in Albuquerque. It was running 11.70's then on a stock rebuild w/ forged internals, N20 and a blower (at 7,800 DA!).
Well, I got to see this car again for the first time since then. It's undergoing a complete overhaul - 540 Merlin block w/ monster twin turbos. I could easily put my fist into the header collectors, or the exhaust for that matter (4-inch exhaust all the way back, out both sides!). The motor made over 700hp by itself, without the turbos. It's got an elaborate custom tubular subframe welded underneath, smoothed firewall, nothing but the best parts. He plans on driving this car on the street when it's finished, w/ full interior, and is confident he'll have it running some fast single digits at the strip as well.

Woops, mah bad. Appears the car is on the net....
Found some facts on it:
555 CI Merlin block/Big chief heads
Jesel valvetrain
Custom JE turbo pistons 8.5:1
Custom roller cam
800+hp no boost
Projected 1500hp on pump gas, 2000+ on racegas, streetable and
over-the-top in most every detail!
Unfortunately, due to the recent passing of the owner of the website this car is on (Wes Hess) this car will be collecting dust for awhile since the Impy's owner has lost some interest in it.
