Default Project ----------- Tahoe

OK, been contemplating this for some time, so I guess I'll do a build thread and see how it goes. The original drivetrain has over 240,000 miles so the entire thing needs to be rebuilt/updated. I think pretty much everyone in this section knows I build T56's,, so guess what is going in this thing.... a T56, duh!

Idea:
Get the Tahoe to perform (straight line) about like a stock LS2 GTO or Bolton 4th gen.

Plan of attack:
Rear Gears
Convert to 2WD and drop 400-500 lbs in process
T56 Swap
Fresh Engine w/ Ported heads, full exhaust, boltons etc..

I got most everything needed for the rear gears and T56 swap. Just ordered the Monster Twin Disk clutch setup for it so that should be here in a week or so.

Here is the old girl in all her glory,,, at 5480 lbs. She's a big girl but I still think she's pretty good looking.

That is all. Will update as progress is made.

Thanks. I think the swap will make it much more fun to drive. It should get a significant increase in mileage to boot. Right now I average about 12-13 mpg in town and about 15-16 on the hwy. Between the manual and weight loss I'm hoping for around 19-21 hwy.

Thanks Todd, I like the color too. I sometimes wished it was black like the Z28 though.

Thanks man. I try to keep it looking good. The shifter will look like a factory piece when I'm done with it. I have an updated 03+ style center console going in it that will look just like this when it's finished. The newer consoles have two drink holders plus a space to the left that looks like it was designed for a shifter location. I also have a new column cover off a 5 speed truck that will cover up the autotragic hole in the steering column. It should look like it came this way from the factory when all is said and done.

Thanks. The wheels are not my first choice by a long shot but the price was too good to pass up, craigslist find. Eventually will probably strip and powder coat them.

I wasn't sure what kind of taste you have for rims so I didn't want to hate on them too hard. Yeah too thug. I bet those could sell easily tho. Or powdercoating them like you said. Could try plasti dip just to see how it looks
