Talking Les Schwab Late Night Drags....

I am planning on being @ PIR for these tomorrow night. I don't know if anyone else will show, but I thought I would post this just in case. These are supposed to be "all night" events, under the lights.
If you run under 14.0 you need:
1. A helmet w/Snell rating of 90 or better.
2. A drive shaft safety loop. - I'm puttin' one on tomorrow.
Hope to see some folks there. My GTO is pretty easy to recognize. I have black/silver penstripes on a Barbados Blue '04. Come by and say howdy.

I heard you only need a driveshaft loop if you are on drag radials or slicks. If not I need to order one ASAP, as I hope to be under 14 seconds

I am gonna try and make some of these this year, I hope they let my car run since their web site says there is a 90 db limit on the cars, I think my car exceeds 90 db

PIR can be sound ***** on the road racers. Never heard any problems about the drag racers though.

Pacific is kind of the same way. there are only certain days you can run laps when there are no noise restrictions. But I have never heard a problem with drag racing.

I should be fine, now that I think of it my 67 is as loud as my 99 and they didn't say anything to me when I ran it there.

I'm not positive, but I think the sound ordinance only kicks in after 10pm at PIR.

It is 103 dB until 10 pm and then it is 90 dB. Your loudmouth exhaust will be fine. Drive shaft loop is not required if you are running street tires.

Smile drive shaft loop?

I could be wrong about the drive shaft loop requirement. I got that from the basic technical requirements page on the PIR website. It didn't say anything about which tires you use changing the requirements. It wouldn't bother me if I was wrong or not, as I should have a d.s.loop coming to my doorstep tomorrow. I would think it would be better to be safe than sorry if you needed one and didn't have it, though. Here's a link: http://www.portlandraceway.com/docs/Basic_Tech_2005.pdf
When I told my friend this morning that I was going to put one on my car, he told me, "with the foot you have, it's probably a good idea anyways." I laughed and took it as a compliment. I did lose the driveshaft on my '73 Buick. It was old, and the rear CV joint just finally gave up. Oops!

Happy motoring,

Maximental

I should probably order one, better to be safe than sorry.

Anyone have any recommendations as to the best fitting driveshaft loop? Did a search but there doesnt seem to be any concensus at all.

I was looking around this AM, and if you don't mind waiting, and/or tinkering around a bit, you can get generic ones pretty cheap. I think most of the sponsors have them. I believe the BMR ones are "NHRA approved," I thought I saw that somewhere anyways.

On a different note, I hope I don't get rained out tomorrow night.
