Probably some methed-out mullet head that couldn't afford it anyway that owned that ride. Normally, I think that there are some people out there that have their stuff repoed because they fell on hard times and I feel bad for them, but in this case this person should have been shot for letting that car get trashed!

That would be an expensive fix. The hood, nose, and front fender all have to be replaced and who knows what secondary damage is done. If the price is right on it, I say grab it and either part it out or use it as a parts car for another camaro.

Probably in the same crappy shape as this '02 Z28 in Lynnwood....thought it was realllllly odd that they only wanted $10k or $11k for a 35,000 mile car (give or take) until I ran the VIN......totaled/salvage/fubared title. Looks nice from the street though.

I called and the dude was a *****! He told me its a 2000 with 34,000 and a clean title, $10,600. He said he was only making $300 on the deal so he doesn't want to talk about the price anymore!

That guy is a complete idiot. He must be high. The only way I would buy that car is if the price was right and for parts only.

Unfortunately not all States use the same guidelines for what is and isn't a "clear title". Like how there are all kinds of warnings out to be aware of used cars that were totaled out from Katrina.....apparently Louisiana doesn't consider a car totaled due to flood damage important enough to rate it as a Salvage or Totaled title............or even list on the title "Flood Damage". Lotta States are that way sadly.

My buddy has wrecked his '02 Firehawk twice and the cheapest amount of damage from either wreck was just shy of $10k. The second one was at $18k.......and his California car shows no accidents on Carfax.......mine has been hit 3 or 4 times (nothing major) and had police reports every time but one, and nothing shows on Carfax either.

Basically, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

That's very interesting............so how can you tell if the cars actually clean? I guess you can't huh? So you would just have to try to get one that drove well and had no major blemishes.......maybe have it checked out by a mechanic too???

Is that the only damage? While the car is not worth 10,000, when I had my 98 it took a good front end hit, New hood, front bumper, core support and fenders and Misc cost 5800 dollars. If you could get the car for six or seven it might be worth it.

Why only for parts? Just wondering it dosen't look like a very hard hit.

They had a bunch of ways to check (under the carpet, wiring, mud in certain areas, etc), but sadly, nothing is foolproof. Personally, I would stay away from ANY car previously registered in Louisiana & then put up for sale/registered elsewhere after Katrina. That won't guarantee you won't get one, but it sure lowers your chances.

$10600.00??? That is TOO much for that! I can see $5-7k at the most. Jeez... they are selling WS6s on other sites that are not as trashed for under $5k.

Wink

While they are asking too much for that car as you know he is making a few g's you could still have it fixed cheap.

Used SS hood - $500-$600 + shipping and maybe cheaper (I pd $250 at the Monroe swap meet for a GM hood)
Fender- $83 shipped
Bumper cover - $95 shipped
Paint - ~$500 if you know people
Staighten frontend - ~$400
Brackets - ~$50-$100
Head light - $100
Signals - stock for free or $35 for clears

So like $1,700 - $2,000

I would be interested at like $8-$9K to make some $$ off of it.

And on the paint before people go wild. The painter/body guy at McCann Cadillac/Saab/Hummer who does it all does sidework. Theres many people out there that do quality work and will do it on the side and not in their garage. My car had a decent dent under the drivers door and he pulled it out, straightened it, painted, and baked it at the dealership for $100. It's perfect!

I'm a I-CAR and ASE certified autobody tech myself, I've done more $10-$20k repairs than I care to remember. I was just thinkin about getting another F-body and would be interested in something wrecked that I can get cheap, I'm in no hurry. I already have to many projects. I just like to find good deals now and then.

Pretty much any car that had "flood damage" from Louisiana was under toxic water.
Don't walk, run away from a deal like that!

Besides - all vehicles that were under water are supposed to be destroyed due to the toxic stuff they sat in so it means someone is working on the side by selling them.

The other guy, I want what he is smokin' to ask that for a wrecked 2000 SS. Check the passenger hood side - my bet would be bent frame. Parting out wouldn't be worth 10G's.

I agree. It could cause you more fits than it is worth...
