160 T-stat's, all the same? So, I've been looking at ordering my Thermostat. I see them at Napa, Schuck's, Autozone, and online through many of our vedors. There are a number of different brand names(Milodon, Valucraft, Hypertech, etc.). Are any of these really any better/worse than the others? |
I have had a Hypertech 160* in the T/A for about a year and a half and have had no issues with it. |
from what I under stand there are two different types. one is the whole housing like the old LS1 and then the is the new style that just has the basic insert like a LT1 ;) Many old shcool t-stats won't work on our cars ;) |
Sounds like it doesn't matter much as long as it says it'll fit my year/make/model. |
At least with the ones sold at schmucks there is the standard thermo and the "gen 2" Difference being the gen 2 when it fails (whenever it fails, two days or 20 years) will fail in the open position allowing water to flow over it. So no blown hoses or over pressurizing the system. |
And the Hypertechs say they are more precise, like within 5* of their rating. Where the stockers are + 20*. |

Matter of fact, give me a day or three and I might be able to locate it if I didn't toss it.......the sponser didn't ask for it back and said not to worry, just to keep it. I MAY still have it. I can check if you want. |
