Row on Mustang site concerning performance of stock GTO
In spite of what you might think, the Mustang guys were very positive about the performance of the GTO, especially in comparison with the Mustang GT. What are you guys getting, in quarter mile times and mph, from a stock GTO?

i'll let you know next month
my times stock were horrible.
car had 300 miles on it.. and i guess i suck at M6.
still beat an '05 GT that day..
my times were 13.8@103mph compared to his 14.5@97
now w/8K miles on it.. and some little bolt ons.. i should be running much better.
i'd except some high 12s.

Jon,
I think all we did was tweak the shifts a little, & remove the tip-in timing retard of 18* that GM installs to protect something.....not sure what. The CAI was worth 30hp on the dyno, but only 1/10th at the track with the factory tune. Ellis knocked 3 full tenths off the et with his tune. (the 13.88 run I was on the brakes too)
The car ran 14.25 @ 98 before those 2 mods. It only ran 14.50 @ 95 when it was NEW (400 miles). But with the factory tune it would vary by 2-3/10ths from 1 run to the next. With Ellis's tune it was spot-on! Hope that helps.
Mark
PS All the 'stock' 05 GTs I've seen ran very close to the same times, most were low 14s.

Ellis knows what he is doing. That is a big hp gain. Hard to reconcile that hp gain with the disappointing track gain. Oh well, that's why we go to the track. I had heard that GM really limits the advance on the GTOs. Your post just confirms it. Thanks for posting. See you at the track -if the weather improves

The GTO has alot of Potential built in.. Just limited. with more time we could have gotten more out of Linda's car BUT she traded it for a Saturn.
I can't wait to play with the Saturn

full street trim, +3/4 tank of gas,
stock tires, ect... 2.15 60'
JJKG ran 13.3x@106.x same day
his had super low miles, everything stock except for some 18" wheels and 265 series street tires (probably helped with wheel hop/spin)

I got 13.9 @ 104 out of mine before Ellis finished his tune. I haven't run it since, so I'm still waiting to find out if the final dyno part of the tune helps at the track.
On average, with good runs, we're seeing high 13's on the 2004 models and low 13's on the 2005 models.
