Hehehe. You I bet it would take at least 2,000Ci to even spool it!

That is compressor for a gas turbine engine, I am pretty shure there is not a car on the planet that would turn it

I bet the a/r on the hot side is like 4.00 or more!! Cold side doesnt look all that big though, maybe an 80mm wheel at the most with about a 2" volute.

It's safety wired together. What a monster. Looks like a pretty good sized oil tube feeding the bearings.

When I ran and tested the emergency generator at the north creek plant both turbos would glow entirely cherry red after it was fully loaded up, as would the whole intake tract for the motor. 1100hp V8 Cat Diesel. The bearings for the turbos had 5/8" oil feed lines. It was ****** awesome!

I worked on some natural gas compressor systems that had turbos that were about 6 feet in diameter. They were in a seperate building outside of the engine room. The V12 engines were 4,000 horsepower at 300 rpm! Now that's some serious torque. The turbos had air motors to get them spinning prior to engine start because the impellers and shaft weighed about 300 lbs. The piston rings were almost 5' in diameter.

Krikey! I'd friggin love to see that.

Did you see Modern Marvels "Horsepower" episode on The History Channel, they showed a container ship diesel that made 100,000 HP, you could walk into the crankcase. They must have had a 6ft throw on the cranks. Some rediculously low rpm.

That is just what I need to finish my crazy setup!

I have seen some monsterous pics of some turbos. Saw one with a guy standing right beside it and the thing was as tall as him!
