Default Fastest Sale ever

I just put the 86 Caprice Wagon up for sale and i sold within 45 minutes.

heres the add I ran:

1986 Chevy Caprice Wagon -- the good IT starts and runs great. Trans doesn’t slip, all the electrical works. New tags. All the lights blinkers, taillights brakes lights work fine. Horn works, tires are ok. New battery from Napa. Wipers work fine.

The bad --- has a short some where so you have to unplug the battery when you park or it will drain overnight. Brakes aren’t that good, they work but aren’t that good. I don’t want to work on them. Cracked windshield but hasn’t got pulled over ever. Interior is all there not torn but not clean either. I bought the car a couple year ago put a few thousand miles on it and now and getting rid of it. Exterior is ok, its not dented and beat up.

This car started everyday no matter how cold it got. Heat works great, it melted the ice not problem so I didn’t have to scrape. Don’t want to work on the brakes and tired of dealing with unplugging the battery.

Sold it for $200. I paid 500 for it 2.5 years ago and put 4,000 miles on it. Gotta love them beaters!

I'm buying a Kia Sephia with 180,000 miles on it that a 71 year old woman owned for hopefully $500.. $650 max

WOnder if I canm put a turbo on it? find something in a wrecked car? spemd no more than like 400 total?

That's cool.

When you say beater, you really mean beater.

Well the 71 year old woman was tough in negotiations. Paid 600 for the Kia. She was asking 775 to start. Car runs good. Its not as bad a dog as I thought it would be but still a dog. Shifter has about 2 feet of play between gears but you can still find them.
all in all not bad for the money. Has some severe yellowing of the headlights I'll need to take care of.

Last year we talked about having beater races at the track but never really did it. We should do that this year and keep track

lol, well a turbo bigger than my head doesn't do much good sitting on a shelf . Same goes with tons of other crap, and that car is going to stay NA this year, so it shouldn't be faster than 14.5, if even that. I've got a few surprises for my real beater though (the red car)!

I think Tyler has the best CCC track record for beater points out of all of us... haha

We'll have to have an 8v 2.3L turbo vs. 8v 2.3L turbo race this year. You'll probably smoke me though, I think the foxbody is a little lighter than my full interior brick!

Don't make me shelf the Turquoise Terror for a race and bring out the Impy of Doom!!! My Impy could shove that Metro in the trunk and still run a blazing sub 17 second quarter.

Okay, how about this.

One CCC race is a "beater" race. Double points if your car meets the following criteria.

Pick any two
  1. Must have significant rust
  2. Must run slower than 20 seconds
  3. Must have engine knock at idle
  4. Must smoke the entire 1/4 mile
  5. Must not have any performance modifications
  6. Must be a unanimous agreement on "Beater" status

Well that pretty much counts out the 4 banger car. Come to think of it the only vehicle I have that comes close to meeting that criteria is my chevy.

Its the car in my sig. It was supposed to be an autocross/track day project but turned into my daily beater. And trust me, it gets a daily beating just ask Mark. It commutes 95 miles and suffers 6k rpm shifts through 3 gears on every onramp every day.
