Default Advice please..

So I'm going to be putting LT headers and ORY on my currently only Magnaflow catback system. I have an oppurtunity to go 3 routes:

1. Buy a set of used QTP headers. In good condition and only $150. Just need to find a Y-pipe or possibly go true dual at that point.

2. Buy a set of used pacesetters w/ matching ORY. In good condition as well and can get it for $420.

3. Get a set of "fairly new" style headers and ory (both stainless). $400 for them (refunded after I get a before and after dyno and a simple write up w/ a lot of pictures.

Any suggestions guys?

Experimental headers might not be a bad way to go as long as you get your money back if they dont fit or you dont like them, regardless of a writeup.

I looked at those qtp's, they seemed ok in the picture and $150 is a smoking deal for qtp's.

420 for used pacesetters and ory is a bad deal IMO considering if you look hard you can get the whole setup new for about 500-550. Pacesetters arent stainless so they arent worth much used and and ory can be had for $100. Get that pacesetters and ory for 200 depending on the condition. Un-coated new ones are 259 and coated are 359.

In fact I found the NEW coated ones with ory and 02 extension for 500 +$20 for delivery NIB. SO $420 now officaly is a terrible price.

If I went w/ the QTP's, would it be better to try to find a QTP Y-pipe to match up w/ it or just have a custom one made?

I'm really leaning toward the experimental headers. Just a little concerned that no matter what the dyno is going to come out of pocket. How much am I looking at to get base dyno #s and "after" dyno?

I'm going to have my setup for sale pretty soon. 500 for headers and QTY catted Y-pipe my headers are the style QTP copied in Stainless. Those QTP's are a good deal, I sent him an email but don't think I'll be able to get up there and buy them in time.

Unless you are mechanically inclined I wouldn't go with the experimental stuff, proven headers can be a PITA to install on some cars.

Edelbrocks are another good deal, I can't see buying Pacesetters when you can get edelbrocks for just bit more.

The experimental headers have been out for a little while, they just did not have a matching y-pipe for it. Now they have produced a stainless y-pipe to match and just want some pictures on varies boards to hopefully drive business. As far as being mechanically inclined, I'm definitely not which makes me a little hesitant.

Here is the picture of the experimental ones...the Y-pipe looks a lot like Pacesetter one to me:

And loud, but yes if your neighbors can handle the noise that is the setup. Wish I knew a shop that I could trust to do tru duals all the way back with cats and decent mufflers!!!

The QTP option seems to be slipping away from me as the hours go bye. It was listed on Craigslist and he emailed me back saying he had 8 replies. In the email he said first to call him gets it and to call him..........then didn't leave me his number. Wrote him back and haven't heard anything

So I take it you are going the true dual route then since you got an X-pipe?

True dual it is. I do however live in a townhouse community and my garage is attached w/ my neighbor, so I'm not sure how long the noise will fly......but we'll certainly find out . As far as muffler choice goes, I've decided to go w/ 1 chamber flowmasters. Heard a lot of clips and seems like a pretty clean throaty sound. Hopefully it sounds as good in person.

It won't fly long, I had a similar setup on my Z06, it would literally make your ears hurt sitting behind it and reving it to 4k. like a piercing hurt, my neighbors are pretty cool about my rides but they weren't to happy with that. I had to put cats on it to quiet it down even then it was pretty loud.

I mean going down the street it roared you could hear a few blocks away like it was right there. Was the best sounding ride I've ever owned though Here is a link to it at the track to give you an idea of the sound. Long tubes, xpipe and flowmaster 1 chambers, stealth II cam. in the begining you just here the stang then I get on it and whip his ***!!

Wow that thing sound PERFECT. How was it at idle and at really low rpms? If I could stay under the radar while in my complex, I should be okay. I know I know..."under the radar" and true duals don't go together, but you know what I"m saying

Wow. You turned down the experimental deal - guess I know where to go since I'd have no problem messing to get it to fit. Dyno days can be as cheap as $75 a pull, tune round $200 then pull again. Well worth the 'free' set up.

Either way you are going to have a set up you will like which is what you were after

Hey I was just trying to let the crowd get a longer look at the car.

The Z is WAAAAY louder than the SS, the SS has Cats and an SLP Dual Dual probably sounds alot like yours if you have the dual dual still on there!
