With and without the cover... :eek2:

As some of you know I now have a Lexus LS-460 since dec/06. These pics are actually not from my own car, but from another LS-460 just like mine.

This is the all new aluminum V-8 that puts out 380hp with the 8-speed auto.

Wires and tubes and air ducts Oh my! :eek2:

Ellis said he can "Fix it"

@ complicated wiring --

No thanks.

:barf:

It does look reasonable with the cover on though. :)

Spray it!

Compstall Apr 27, 2007 12:32 AM

It's like taking the mask off the Predator.

howierd42 Apr 27, 2007 09:27 AM

No wonder they cover it.

jewbacca Apr 27, 2007 10:44 AM

Wow, harsh guys. But seriously, our engine look any better?

bandit4 Apr 27, 2007 10:48 AM

Why Is It On Lsi?

Welllll.... yes. I'll go take a pic and post it for you.

Its does look cool with the engine cover on it and it certianly has the performance, and is a very nice car. But where the hell was the dipstick to check the oil?

ok found it. It looks like it up front by the cap on the washer fluid?

Still a very nice car!
IS the thing cowl inducted or have a hood scoop? where does that rectangular looking air box fit up to when the hood is closed? OR what is that I've circled? Can't really tell from the picture but it looks like it has foam around the edges for sealing.?

That foam thing you pointed out seals with the cover, here are some more pics that explain better than my words...

Sweet setup with the covers. So the air comes thru the grill and thru those vents into the box. Am I seeing that right?

Well, several reasons...

- So far nobody :gtfo: me :)

- I used to be here more when I had my bird (link on sig). Once in a while I feel like posting here.

- I still like American Muscle Cars.

- My luxury rice burner is also a V-8.

and most important....

- I still have friends here and regardless of car origins we're all car guys, so why not share and talk some BS once in a while :thumb:

That's one covered up engine!

Yes, you're correct. It's kinda weird though because with the hood closed I'd think there would be no way for the air to flow well but it seems like it does. At least that's what my right foot tells me :) .

99blancoSS Apr 27, 2007 01:02 PM

Well that rectangular opening is big (volume wise) and if you look at the area those vents encompase it's not small either. My guess is they diffuse it that way to lessen the sound of gushing air. It probably has better flow than my camaro thru it's hood scoop.

:jest: with the hood closed it's ram air

Interesting... What I don't know is if this car has one or two TBs. I know it's fly-by-wire and I also know there is one less belt because the power steering is electric (48 volts). The intake valves are also controlled by cams connected to step motors.

It looks like it would have two TBs as the air box splits to two air filters. One thing is for sure, this car is vault-like quiet.

Seriously? Look at the pipes after they come out of the air boxes. You can see them come back into one pipe as it enters the throttle body. Nice car.

WS6freak Apr 27, 2007 03:20 PM

AH Yes, doh... my bad. It's one TB. What an idiot I am ;)

I am still trying to find the motor in those pictures :jest:
