Why is it impossible to buy rearview mirror glass? NOT the side view mirrors. GM obviously gets it from somewhere, yet you can't seem to buy it for almost any vehicle. This is JUST the glass, not the entire assembly. I really don't understand it. You would think some company would sell it, but no, it's like it just flat out doesn't exist outside of an entire new assembly.

Instead, you need to hunt Ebay or junkyards in the hope you can find an assembly where the glass isn't separating. So, does anyone know the reasoning behind this because I'm really curious.

because the price difference in getting the glass piece vs the whole things is probably so insignificant, that it's not even worth it, might as well just keep making the whole assembly.

Part of it has to do with the fact that, if I'm not mistaken, GM doesn't even make the mirrors. Anther company does. I can't remember the name though.
