Air pressure at gun poll

What do all you guys like to set your gun air pressure setting to?

I'm assuming you are using a HLVP gun. It really depends on what you are spraying. For base I shoot around 30psi. Especially w/ metallic because you want to have enough air pressure for even coverage but not so much you are wasting it.

Filler primer a little more than that. It's really hard to explain but after a while you go off the way the spray pattern looks and how the product is atomized.

I'm sure you will get better posts than mine. There are some way smarter guys on here than me.

Yes hvlp...sorry. Just trying to gauge a consensus. Will be painting my first car in a few weeks. I painted under the hood with single stage urethane. I shot it at 28 lbs. Came out fairly good...I was impressed with myself! lol Will be shooting BC/CC on the car.

i would suggest using an old panel or going to a body shop and picking up one and practice on that. If you have never shot base/clear before it can be kinda overwhelming at first. Atleast it was for me. Then you can learn your gun and it's adjustments.

That way if you mess up its not a big deal. It's easier that way instead of on your car. Just my .02

You also want to keep in mind it's not just air pressure it's the fluid control, fan pattern n speed at witch u spay( move your arm ).everyone sprays alittle different . I like my fluid fully open n your spray pattern should be consistent from top to bottom( check by spraying on a piece of paper or cardboard ) n use a smooth even swipe with the gun even to the surface.I use around 30 for hvlp on base n alittle higher for clear. Like LilJayV10 said I also go off how it looks, sounds,n sprays witch comes with experience but you don't want to blast it but u don't want the air pressure so low your putting out huge droplets either. Like he said practice is always the best way n can save u money in the long run so u don't have to redo stuff, good luck though n keep us posted on what u do.
