I do a lot of powder coating and have yet to powder coat plastic. I didn't know it could be done. I don't think it can because the part has to be grounded to accept the charge powder. Seems like even if you could do it you would get a lot of static pop. I am going to say it can't be done. If it can, I'm interested too.
It has been done many times, theirs a guy on here and a few other forums that does it. Ive seen hisbwork and hes does a great job
I've seen online search results for places that do it. It can be done but I have no clue as to the process.
This is who powder coats plastic. I've seen many great reviews of people who've had work done by him on a few sites

I think they heat it up first, then spray it on since it cant be charged for the powder to stick like it would on metal.

i heard UV lights is what is used?? Also i believe static charge builds up pretty well on plastic.
I know this is an old thread, but I just ran across it.
I found this video on youtube. He talks about low temp coatings for plastic, and he shows how he coated a clay pot with a custom color he mixed.
I just ordered a Craftsman powder coating gun off of Amazon for $40. I got this one because it doesn't need air from my compressor. I got a toaster over for $10 and I'm going to try my hand at powder coating. Next is a sandblasting setup

That's pretty interesting. I never thought plastic could be powder coat. I wonder how much it would cost to get my intake done.
