If no body work is being done the use a DA with a soft interface pad and 600 grit or 500 wet with a soft sanding block. Use grey scotch brite over it all and get the edges good. You can scuff it with some spay can window cleaner in 2-3 ft. Sections before dry scuffing to help get the car clean.

Well that depends on a lot of variables. Are you just scuffing to throw down some new paint? For that I would recommend 800g. If you are feathering out chips and such and doing it right(seal, color, clear) use about 400g. Unless you are shooting waterborne products, in which case you should finish out to 600 wet or finer. Being a painter, I would recommend 400g, then sealer, etc...
