tips on repainting panels?
*flame suit on*
I got a 01 NBM z28 and was able to pick up an RS body kit for relatively cheap (minus the spoiler lip). I used AZ dupli-color rattle can using a color very close to the car's color.
I prepped all panels with a gray primer and applied 4 coats on everything followed by 3 coats of clear. after installing them I noticed that both side skirts were still lighter than the rest of the other pieces and from the car.
can I (wet) sand the side skirts and apply another 2-3 coats followed by clear coat? if so, what grit should I use?
i'll upload pics soon for clarity

Rattle can paint while it has made improvements over the years.
It's never going to match factory colours. I have tried it twice now with correct paint codes and all with a front bumper and a leer topper. After prepping, applying paint and clear neither matched at all. So I had to remove all paint and had a buddy paint them in a both with PPG paint out of a gun came out looking factory.
So while you can save a little money with rattle can, if you want it to match do it right the first time.
I ended up spending close to 50-100$ on supply's and about 2-3 hours on each piece. Only to spend another 1-2 hours removing it all.

323z is 100% right. The color will not get any darker. Not to mention, rattle can has no hardener in it. It will sun fade in 2 years. Gasoline will melt the paint off too. Find a scratch and dent place to spray it. ~$150-300 job
