Do the hatch's rust in this location?

There's some kind of like bubbling on both sides of the hatch in the area in the picture (not my hatch just the location) on my new TA.

It's only mild, but if you look closely you can see it.

The car's being stored like 3 miles from my house, I just had a thought to carefully inspect the underside with the hatch open the next time I'm over there.

Can someone tell me if the areas shown are a typical area on these cars that would be rusting inside?

Thank you!

Space 800 is never used. This place is like my own personal batcave!

On a Camaro the hatch is fiberglass, which should be the same for a Firebird. Maybe it's just a paint defect especially if it's not a garage car?

Thanks Sube!

I'm going to have to look closer at it, it's weird it's in the same spot on both sides of the hatch. It was mostly garage kept, I think. I'm going to get a cover as soon as I pick one. Thanks for the input!

Every body panel on the T/A is either made from SMC or plastic. The only metal panels would be the rear quarters, rockers and a non WS6 hood. The trouble your talking about on the hatch is most likely the same as on the wing.

Thanks Johnny!

I'm going to look carefully at the underside and see if that reveals anything. I'm sure SMC has pros and cons but I LOVE that it can't rust! The trunk lid on my 67 Mustang Fastback was a disaster!

I'm having a hard time seeing anything in the picture.. but being that its white, its possible that airborne metal particles are settling on your paint and rusting. Very common in white vehicles are rusty specks... again I can't see it, so apologize if I'm wrong.

Nevermind.... i see that the white hatch is not yours

Thanks for the thought Tyler

I've got the same issue on the hatch seams and where the spoiler comes into the hatch. It looks exactly like the bubbles in the sail panel which is what led me to the conclusion that it's the glue seeping into the paint. I'm expecting to source an earlier model hatch at the same time that I do the sail panel.
