Default painting calipers.....can i use regular car paint? (base/clear)

i'll be painting my engine bay tongiht and wanted to repaint my cailpers while i was at it. im using reg. old car paint for the bay and was wondering if i could use the same paint on my calipers, if they would withstand the heat. i'll be using a basecoat/clearcoat too if that helps, it's Omni car paint.

Regular Automotive paint like Duplicolor is fine. I used that on mine a couple times as I've changed my color scheme 4 times in the years I've owned the car. The last I used was actual PPG paint that matches the orange on the front of the car. I had to use a brush for that because at the time it wasnt available in a spray and only in pints

You could really use just regular krylon, it might not last as long but it would work. I would spot the extra bills and buy the actual caliper paint from Advance Auto Parts, its got ceramic in it so it really sparkles in the sunlight...lemme show you a pic of what I mean....

I wonder if it will hold up. I was in the same boat like a week ago, but i decided to buy the caliper paint from oreilly but it chips really easy. i might strip it off depending on how good yours holds up to temp. Let me know.

i used 1200 high temp primer. just as long as the primer is high temp stuff, the paint should hold up.

i bought the kit that comes with a brush but i sprayed it out of my primer gun. It looks very glossy but i have not ran the car since i sprayed them so i dont know if they have to get hot to activate the ceramic.

yeah you need a temp rating of minimum 500*.. your calipers probably will never see 300*.. standard DOT 3 brake fluid would boil then.. so 500* is fine
