Repainted roof already bubbling!?
I had some bad bubbling/cracking on my roof piece (the one behind the t-tops) not even a week ago. I get it back and it looks beautiful, new - flawless! I dropped 500 dollars on this bitch. Five days later, there are two very small, hard bubbles forming. You pretty much can't see them but they totally shouldn't be there.
I suppose what I'm asking is should I demand this be fixed for free? It's not a huge deal but there's no telling if these things could get worse and I paid the price for it.
The place is Young's Camaro Speciality in North Carolina in case you guys have ever heard of it.

if all you did was get the roof repainted then more then likly it is going to re bubble, The bubbling is caused by the glue that is used to hold the roof onto the car. The roof has had a defect from the factory. MANY people have the same problem.

It happened in only 5 days because since it was separating already just painting over it only covered what was there. But its continuing to bubble so it'll show it quick. It is like rust, can't just cover it up with more paint
So far, mine shows no signs of any paint bubbles... *knock on wood*

If all you had done was get the roof repainted for the 500 dollars then I would have to say that you paid a bit on the high side. Depending on the shop and there reputation prices can very alot. There is a recall thread on this forum about this problem. I guess its actually very common. What you can do is take it back to the shop and explain to them the problem. Have them remove the sail panel and remove all of the glue on the roof and panel. Get it repainted and reglued down by some windshield glue.

apparently you didnt read the roof bubble sticky before you dropped the cash on getting it repainted huh?
It's not the paint place's fault, the bubbles are going to come back no matter how many times you repaint.
GM claims 98 cars dont have the problem. must have been the time frame they were using the crappy glue/glue procedure.

the 98s do have the problem, i experienced it myself. i had the roof painted 9 times using different primers, sealers and materials. once, i got a call from the body shop saying that my car was ready to be picked up, and when i got there, there were bubbles all over again and they didnt even know it. this happened to me before GM released the bulletin so everyone was kinda clueless on why it was happening. dont waste your time, remove the sail panel, remove the adhesive, clean it and replace it with new urethane adhesive and your problem will go away.
