So i took apart the 6.2 down to a shortblock and wasnt too happy with what i found so if you're interested please read. I am now offering the short block for sale (I have another 6.2 which i have more $ into so this one needs to go). PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION BELOW, SO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT. Thank you!
This engine was a top end fire, the heads were not damaged (I'm using them on my LS3) HOWEVER, when the fire was extinguished, water made its way into some of the cylinders as you can see in the pics some of the cylinders have rust. Currently this bottom end will not turn over, cylinders 5, 6 and 8 apprear to be the worse (6 being the worse of them all). I did not attempt to force this engine over nor to clean up the cylinders other than to get the small amount of water out of the cylinders with a shop vac and some rags. I do NOT know the extent of work these cylinders will need, it might need anywhere from .005-.030 over and I know from my research on here .030 and higher will require sonic testing. For all i know someone may get lucky and be able to clean these up. (again I DON'T know, I am not a professional machinist so this is my opinion, i leave the judgement up to whoever buys the engine, just want to be clear so someone knows what they are buying). My prediction on worse case, 3 sleeves may need replacement and then .010-.020 on all of them to be safe. The pan was not removed.
I'm asking $1200 picked up (Western MA/Worcester MA Area) or $1600 shipped for the complete short block. Pictures are below. Thank you
