OL or CL with the MAF and LT's

Hey to all...
I have asked about the difference between WB and NB and now believe the problem is the collectors and getting the NB's good and hot, then they read better.
I have tuned the car with a AEM WB and now have new NB's in and in the Part Throttle areas, the AEM and NB's give me pretty much the same percent error, it's at idle that the NB's are off until they get good and warmed up they can read anywhere between pos ~10 percent to neg as much as almost 20 percent of error. When they read 10 - 20 percent off the idle gets rough, it hasn't stalled is rough, but after good and warm they settle down and the idle gets much smoother.
Question is until they get warmed up and settle down is the amount of error dangerous to the motor, other than this the car is running well, just don't want to hurt the motor and am wondering if I am wasting fuel?
I would like to run CL for safety, but is this really safer?

If you disable CL does it go back to being close? If you've got it pretty close in OL, just leave it there.

CL for safety? No safety, it's just better for the cats and fuel milage.

I have it tuned with the AEM in OL, I thought that CL helped keep it ~14.7 and compensates better for changes, hence safer...that's what I thought.

I would guess that OL would net as good or better mileage, due to the o2's not bouncing around and falsely moving fuel.

That's the point of O2 sensors, but if for some reason they don't work, what can you do. Are you logging commanded fuel?

Yes I am logging commanded, why is this important?

You can always set it up for OL at idle. The HP Tuners forum has a great post on the details of how to set it up.

Just making sure that it wasn't commanding richer for some reason. Like rao posted lots of cammed cars are running OL for idle with good results. That maybe what you need to do.

The commanded vs. actual is pretty good and have the PE pretty good also...I have tried the OL idle/CL running hybrid tune and mostly it stays in OL, every now and then will go into CL but doesn't seem to work and have had a couple of good tuners look at my tune and they can't figure out why, everything looks good, it should go in to CL but just doesn't.
BTW I use HP tuners.

If you are using HP tuners, go here: http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...ight=idle+long

Follow the instructions in post #46.

It should go into closed loop pretty much as soon as you step on the gas.

I have gone over that whole thread...like 5 pages...and checked my tune and it stays in OL when trying the OL/CL hybrid, every now and then, the STFT's will show for some time and then turn back off...very strange :bang:

The Fbodies don't seem to work very well. I've had some that won't go back to CL once they go into open. I've had some that work pretty good.

Seems the Vettes work pretty flawless though.

I have to believe there is some reason for this....something is not allowing it to go CL, I have read there are several factors that have to be meet to go CL, but if I use just a pure CL tune only STFT's it work perfect. :eyes:

It doesn't look like you have made any of the changes. Read post #1 and #46. It takes all of 5 m inutes to set it up.

I don't have a license for your PCM so I can't make the changes.

I made the changes to the PE tables according to the thread and it makes sense to kick in to PE just command 14.7 up to 1200 rpms, but it doesn't work on my car, or the OS which is the stock 02 system.
