Default 99-02 fbody pcm pinout vs 99-02 truck pinout

Im doing a swap and got a computer with my engine (5.3) but its going in a 99 camaro using its harness, I do NOT have the 5.7 pcm as the car started life as a v6 car. Can I just use the 5.3 pcm no problems or are the pinouts different? (fingers crossed)

99-02 pcm's all share the same pinout, if it is a 09354896 or 12200441 service number unit.

So I should be able to use a 99 z28 harness with a 5.3l and computer no problem?

Yes, just be sure you flash the appropriate V8 F-Body calibration to the 5.3L ECM, so it knows what signals to expect and which one do not apply.

Just have them flash to a 99 ls1 and change the displacement to 5.3 instead of 5.7? What would some one charge for something like that and removing emissions and adding headers?

The Sierra did not use E-Fans, so you would need to turn that on in the calibration. Also you will only have control of one fan with the computer, as the second fans pinout is used by the HVAC. You will need to route to the A/C wire, do a search on Performancetrucks.net to find the pinout and/or A/C wire needed to tap into.

Best bet is to do as has been suggested and have the PCM flashed with a 99-2002 Camaro Z28 base file (I'd choose the 2002 myself, it's the best operating system that'll work in a 99-2002 PCM), with the appropriate calibration stuff copied over from the 5.3 (spark, fuel, VE and so on)...then use a stock Z28 harness and don't re-wire anything.
