car keeps reseting? evry time i start my car...the gages opo all the way up like if i disconected my battery...y is that? the batterys conected just fine?:bang: |
If it's a '99 they'll do that with low battery voltage - it'll also reset the trip odo. |
I had a 1999 camaro that started doing the same thing even when battery voltage was not low. There is a service bulletin about it that says you have to replace the instrument cluster to fix it. I sold my car before I fixed mine, so I don't know if that would take care of it or not. |
Yeah, there is a '99 TSB to replace the IPC for the trip reset in cold weather, usually accompanied by the gauges sweeping. You can do that, but good battery voltage makes it go away. |
yea it is a 99...thanks guys...would that cause problems or just gauge sweeping? |
You say the battery is connected fine, but how do you know? Voltage chassis-PCM and post-post may be different (corrosion, loose straps). An internal resistance problem in the battery may only manifest during cranking load, and so on. |
