If it's a '99 they'll do that with low battery voltage - it'll also reset the trip odo.

I had a 1999 camaro that started doing the same thing even when battery voltage was not low. There is a service bulletin about it that says you have to replace the instrument cluster to fix it. I sold my car before I fixed mine, so I don't know if that would take care of it or not.

Yeah, there is a '99 TSB to replace the IPC for the trip reset in cold weather, usually accompanied by the gauges sweeping. You can do that, but good battery voltage makes it go away.

yea it is a 99...thanks guys...would that cause problems or just gauge sweeping?

You say the battery is connected fine, but how
do you know? Voltage chassis-PCM and post-post
may be different (corrosion, loose straps). An
internal resistance problem in the battery may
only manifest during cranking load, and so on.
