HELP! Predator problems, car won't start.

First off I have been pleased with my Predator, but about 1 hour ago I started tinkering with it and when I attempted to turn it on it would not start. Also the predator said that It could not find the VIN, nothing on the predator was working. The car has gas and the battery is good. I need help,my car is stranded on the street, the good news is it is stranded next to the Chevy dealership. Help me out. Thanks

Make sure all your electrical connections are good. The battery and the fuse distro block on drvrs side. Make sure fuses are good. Turn key, any lights or gauges? If not, then theres an electrical failure. If yes, then turn key to try and start. no crank? If not, but you hear a click, check starter, if no click, try jumping anyway, seen it before. Good luck.

all electrical is good, I tried to turn on the car and when it failed I turned off the ignition and the gauges went crazy. I put in gas and checked all the simple things but to no avail.

Disconnect the battery for a minute. Reconnect and then clear codes. Try starting it.

I did disconnect the battery and reconnected it but it still does not start. Also like I said earlier the Predator does not recognize a VIN. I am wondering if it is possible for the computer to be wiped clean. I am puzzled by all this. I am probably going to get the dealer involved, I still have warranty and I hope I dont get a bad time from them. Thanks for all your help fellas, if any one has any more ideas p[lease share them.

Just play dumb. They will probably have to reflash or replace it. I don't think they can tell anything you might have done in those cases.

Yeah, I would be blonde like no tomorrow.

Also, is this a result of using the Predator? Where you in the process of tuning and lost connection? Sorry, never had seen anyone else reporting problems like this, unless it was user error, like d/c before writing was done. thanks, and good luck.

I had mine lock up while using Edit.
The engine turned over but would not start and Edit would not connect. Disconnecting the battery did work for me and I was able to connect Edit.

I dont know if it is a result of the predator but I was out going for a ride I decided to park it and toy around with the tune and when I attempted to turn it on, it wouldn't,the engine turns but won't start, yeah it is kinda weird but like CAT3 said, I am going to be blonde tomorrow, also like I said when the predator was plugged in, it also was not functioning after all this.Well wish me luck,it is hit and miss at these dealerships sometimes. Thanks

CAT3 Dec 25, 2003 11:55 PM

I am assuming you had the key on, good battery etc when you were messing with the tune? I hope so, or kinda not...no offense but would be a relief for many if this was one of those user errors. I know it sucks when I mess something up, but for sake I know it was me and not the equipment.
Anyway, good luck and post back your results.

franny40 Dec 26, 2003 12:07 AM

No offense taken ,I hope this is user error and not the predators fault, but if the predator is screwy now, can I get that reflashed also? Well I will go to the dealership tomorrow bright and early tomorrow, so I will keep you guys tuned to what happens.

Sounds like a dead PCM.

Was toying around with my predator one day, lost communication and had simular results. The gauges went nuts, the car wouldn't start and no DIC function readings. Unhooked battery and let sit for 30 minutes, reconnected and finished loading, started and acted fine after that.

franny40 Dec 26, 2003 08:59 PM

Well I got my car back from the dealer today and they sais the fuel pump relay went bad therefore making the computer run goofy, so they reflashed the computer. I reinstalled my predator and everything is just fine. All is well. Thanks fellas .

I just read this thread and was worried untill the last post. I have heard of edit locking up and killing a pcm before and I have always worried the predator would do the same. Glad to hear everything turned out alright:)
