Question How Much Timing At What PSI Are You Running?

Hi I posted this in the Forced induction section but havent gotten any response.

Im playing with my tune some now to extract some extra horsepower now that i know my setup is rock solid. On my best pass at the track a couple weeks ago I got a beautiful data log file of the whole run which has me thinking my tune is even more conservative than I thought.

Im using a FAST XFI.

The whole way down the track my AFR is 11.50 to 1 or below at between 10 and 12 lbs of boost. My 02 correction is over -10% the entire run so i know i have plenty of injector/fuel system left. What I see though is that in that part of my timing graph its only running 19 -20 degrees of timing, which doesnt seem like much at all to me.

So to my question, for you guys that tune yourselves, is what kind of timing are you running at what boost levels? I know from experience that 2 or 3 degrees of timing can make a huge difference!

more importantly, what is your scanner telling you to do ?

you should have a very solid baseline tune, before adding alky/meth into the system, then retune it

Depends on a lot of things... what compression? what fuel? Best way to find out is hit the dyno and then you get comparisons to see what it is doing as you add timing or change fuel. It can be done at the track, but takes longer and sometimes other variables can throw the data off...

Forget what others are running, and tune your combo as suggested.
Many times "copycat" tune ups result in you joining the DOTC club!

Believe me I dont need to copycat anyone elses tune, id say 10.99 @ 125 means i have tuned it pretty good myself. Im just interested to see on different types of setups what people are running as far as timing. Just curious, not looking for advise.

He wasn't offering advice, he was pointing out that they are some of the variables that people would need to know to be able to answer your question.

LOL exactly my point im not talking about my setup. Im just curious as to what other people are doing. example - "i have a stock bottom end, cam, t76, 10lbs, 93 octane 18 degrees." or something like that.

My question obviously wasn't written well enough.

here's what I have found on my setup:

I have stock bottom end LS1 and 10 psi with w/ a roots blower.
19* on 93 pump w/ no meth is about all I can throw at it w/o knock.

on E85, I was amazed...27* of timing and no knock

pump gas w/ meth kit spraying 100* methanol I can get away with 23* (using a small nozzle so not much meth is being sprayed)
