Default The Buck Stops Here (cam surge gone)

Took some quick video last night...think I finally got this thing dialed in to where I want it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CH6r1T36Whc

Specifics:
Open loop MAF only tune
Z06 MAF with stock MAF curve from Z06 tune
SVO 30lb injectors
Linear injector flow rate (values are ~31.5@0 kPa to ~40@80 kPa)

With the cam, it idles right around 17:1 on the WBO2 (appears lean due to overlap in cam), drives right around 14.2:1 (WB in passenger side - typically runs a little richer), and I can finally say I'm happy!

Cool man, thankfully I had an auto so I just set my tcc to lockup after the surge passed but I was happy with that, must've taken alot of testing to get it to where you are happy with an m6.

good job!

Been trying to tune my car OLSD for 2 years previous, always had issues. Switched to OLMAF this year, leaps and bounds better than the olsd was for me. Just have a few more things to sort out. Everyone says IAT doesn't affect MAF as much, but it really seems to kill my 99.

What is it like in the lower gears between 1k & 2k rpm?

Yeah - I'm 2 steps away from relocating the sensor so that it doesn't heat soak.

It's similar to the video. I can actually use the gears unlike before. I think there's always going to be a small amount of residual surge that you can't do anything about. But, this is pretty darn close. If I get some time, I'll have a friend shoot some video from the passenger seat....

I would really like to see the video in the lower gears below 2k rpm.

We just spent hours with mine on Mustang dialing the MAF & VE tables to near perfection. We Tried MAF only OL & CL, VE the same way, then blended. The best @ this point is SP CL & additional fine tuning of the secondary table. That secondary table using TPS noticeable helps in the low load lower RPM buck area's.

I'm really interested in any thing I can do to further improve the drive ability of my 243/247 cam.

Tried to grab some video while stuck in traffic yesterday. Wasn't able to get out of first gear. But, this is how it was behaving...

After a few weeks of driving it around, I'd say that 98% of the cam surge is gone. There will be times when it acts up a little. But, it's no where near as bad as it used to be or some other cars I've seen/tuned.

Very Nice.....thats the way it should run.

I've spent allot of time with mine & I think this 102 TB has been kicking my ***. In one of my logs I scaled down the ETC% so I could watch holy was that erratic. I could really imagine how the airflow of that 102 TB in those low position could possibly contribute to buck, surge & want to rip your face off when trying to accelerate as you were in the video. So I cut the desired pedal position tables 50%, that required a bunch of time sorting the follower & adaptive idle tables....I think I have some very positive results from that, just have not had a chance to drive.

I've also seen the MAF really clean up idle. Seems to
me the problem is in the VE table, MAP axis taper. The
character of fuel-surge changes if I change the MAP-
slope, I can see MAP yo-yo-ing if the higher MAP is
leaner (lower VE). MAF is just stable. Bouncing MAP
is making a bouncing air mass all the time, has to bother
the running airflow control loop as well as the fueling.

Any trick/secret/ something different you did?

Ive dealt with that issue in the past but it seems like maf mode took care of it.
