Default Looking to buy Good Scanners or Software for Laptop?

Thinking about getting some software for my laptop, and want to be able to check SES lights, change shift points and all the good stuff!! Anyone know of any good programs? Cost?

To make changes you will need LS1Edit for $550(www.carputing.com) and you need a logging software with a notebook. So you can spend about $1000 for the setup. There is a new company hptuners.com that should be coming out soon that you might want to wait on. It does logging and editing for about $500 and is not tied to one PCM like LS1Edit is.

How about someting to just pull codes with a decription on the screen of which code it is?

Harbor Freight has a reader for $40. I have seen it on sale for $20.
