Yeah, the keyway in an LS1 crank only goes halfway down the snout. It is only meant to drive the timing gear and oil pump. The damper is neutral balanced, so it doesn't need to be keyed. But, the MSD does... So you have to machine the keyway in the crank longer, so it can solidify the hub for the crank trigger to remain accurate.

Shop is coming together very well. Still waiting on contractors to finish the building. Should be able to start moving in after the SBSO. Some big news is in the making that will be officially announced possibly later this week.

Are you using truck coils on the SAM car Chuck? The LS1 coils are notorious for losing spark at about 800fwhp I believe.

I caved in and called Kurt too to see if that will help me get one soon. Once we have that we can swap over to a full FAST system. I have all the other parts standing by.

Thats Great, let us know how every thing works out. It seems like I am going to have plenty of time, seeing that I dont have an engine yet. Thanks John.

May want to consider the 6.0L coils if you can't get things cleared up.

The motor is going in either tonight or tomorrow. Pretty sure they're going to try their best to be there. You probably won't see a car close to 9.20's n/a though (I expect Juds might run 9.40's or 9.50's if he can handle the stick) until we finish ours at HPE. Unfortunately we're running about a week behind, otherwise we would be there this weekend with it to take down Jud in the Super Stroker class But alas, we'll still be there with a few other cars...

Chuck,

Are you the one doing the actual tuning on the SAM car??? I hear with that new spendy intake it made over 750rw and was still making 740rw @8200rpm's.
Isnt that a N/A record?

No, they did their own tuning. And it's really not my place to quote actual numbers. You are about right, but the numbers were fw, not rw.
