Question Some questions about Scanners....

My Dad's shop in Orlando is in need of a new scan tool for checking and clearing engine codes as well as ABS & AirBag codes (it's a body shop)....

We have an old Snap-Off scanner, but it's pretty outdated and the cost of buying current cartridges for all GM, Ford and Asian vehicles (roughly $2100)...

The majority of the cars we get come directly from dealers or rental agencies, so they're all typically brand new (02-up)....

I'm all current with my shop in NYC as far as the scanners go and it pays for itself because we do that kinda work constantly everyday, but my Dad's body shop will most likely only use it ocassionally (just a few times a week for major wreck jobs), so we don't really wanna shell out the big bucks for it....

Rather than upgrading the Snap-off cartridges, I've been thinking about other options...

Perhaps another inexpensive brand of scanner or even Auto-Tap....

Anyhoo, what are my options as far as our needs go?

We're trying to keep it under a budget of say, $1200 (ballpark)

I wouldn't mind just getting AutoTap for code reading (as long as it works on all makes/models) and maybe an independant scanner for AirBag/ABS codes

Suggestions?
