New to tuning on LS engines

I just ordered HP tuners, and have a few buddies with LS engine vehicles that want tunes. an 02 camaro with a shift kit and exhaust and Lid and a couple trucks with intake/exhaust. Is there anything special I need to know or look out for these LS engines? Am I able to completely disable torque management without hurting anything?

im gonna start with this basic guide:

anything else I should know before I start doing these?

The ls1 is easy as opposed to the newer stuff. What you ask it to do it will do. Turn off torque management as you mentioned is simple to do as is cat protection, speed limiters and all that. Can't help you with specifics of where those items are in HPTuners as I've gotten rid of it and use EFI LIVE exclusively now. But they won't be hard to find

thanks for the insight! I forgot about cat protection! How high can ls1's rev safely without valve float, as in shift points and such. I have read a few places that another good idea is to set shift speeds to .2 across the board. is this an accurate statement?

i spent $1000 on "how to tune" books to learn after I bought hptuners in order to not spend countless hours searching online. Its a fairly steep learning curve, but not impossible.

As for your question there is no one size fits all answer. Everything depends on parts used.

spend $250 and get Gregs DVD on how to tune sold at Summit Racing

it's a great place to start

that's a great Idea for someone with lots of extra money, which I have none of ;)
