Predator won't communicate with car ECU!!!!

I've had this Predator for about 2 years and never had a problem till now. I hooked the predator to the Diagnostics port and choose real time data. The predator tries to communicate then it says to much sure the car is in the ON position....but the car is running!! Anyone ever had this problem??

check your cig lighter fuse. should be a 10amp that supplies power to the DLC

Fuse is good.

Try options/troubleshooting/show VIN or show calid and see if it reports the correct info with the key on.

Troubleshooting isn't under options. All it has is....pc communication...display serial number...set password...clear password...tool id...show current ticks....buy ticks...about tool....tool status....car tune and send software id

thats an olllllld tool...

have you installed anything aftermarket since the last time you used the predator til now?

sounds like something is tapped into the ignition wires and the predator isn't able to detect that the key/ignition is on....

boola1341 Mar 25, 2012 05:34 PM

I had 2 cats and a cutout installed before this happened??? Does the predator need a update???

Mike@Diablosport Mar 26, 2012 10:16 AM

Yeah, that is old....

Did they weld the cats in on the car?
Was the PCM disconnected before they started welding on it?

boola1341 Mar 26, 2012 11:02 AM

Yes the cats was welded and the pcm wasn't disconnected..

Ttttt

Id suggest sending that tool in for a hardware upgrade.
For $99 + shipping, we'll gut it, rebuild it into a brand new Predator that is internet updatable, and has logging capabilities, and works just like a brand new tool.

Thats aside from the fact that there could be issues in the car due to the welding that was done, tough to say for sure without another tool that can try to communicate with the PCM.

boola1341 Mar 27, 2012 01:38 PM

How do i go about getting that hardware update? What could have happened during welding to cause the predator not able to communicate with the car

did they wire up the electric cut-outs to the ignition wires? disconnect/pull the fuse for the electric cutouts, and see if the tool works...
